Architectural / Engineering

Internship/Co-Op Architect

Location:  Corporate Office

Global Engineering is looking for an architect student intern who is interested in learning how architecture is applied to the design/build industry. This position is designed for college students that are pursuing a bachelor’s degree and have an interest in architecture. The intent is to give students an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the work place. The position is temporary, non-exempt, part-time/hourly.

The architect intern can expect to learn from and observe the management team, architects, design engineers, all levels of construction, and AutoCAD designers in support of a variety of design/build projects in both the design and construction phases. Work could consist of preparing site investigations, work plans, design projects, and developing an understanding of the many layers of projects from inception to completion, taking field trips to observe progress at construction sites, reviewing drawings and reports. There may also be opportunities to interact with other departments in the company as well as outside subcontractors.

The engineer intern can expect to learn from and observe the management team, design engineers, all levels of construction, and AutoCAD designers in support of a variety of design/build projects in both the engineering and construction phases. Senior Architect (AIA)

Location: Corporate Office

Position for licensed Architect with experience designing building systems to include offices, medical facilities, military training facilities, etc. Take lead role on Govt and private sector construction projects. Design development work sessions at project sites; manage and coordinate staff - conceptual design and final construction documents; ensure quality control. Duites & Responsibilities include:

  • Scheduling and coordinating site visits with A&E entities as well as project managers and facilities managers.
  • Responsible for coordinating project design for function, flow and aesthetic value with facility managers and project commanders.
  • Gather project design information at site visits.
  • Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection.
  • Guide and assist associate architect and CADD deportment in layouts and detailing.
  • Write and coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection specifications.
  • Assist in quantity “take-offs” and pricing.

Architects (AIA)

Civil Engineer 

Location: Corporate Office

Position, at Corporate Headquarters, for licensed Civil Engineer with experience designing systems to include earthwork, pavement, storm water management, etc.  Take lead role on Government and private sector construction projects.  Work with clients to establish the most functional, efficient and sustainable designs.  Conduct or participate in design development work sessions at project sites with client representatives, other in-house A&E disciplines and subcontractors.  Coordinate preparation of site development documents, including specifications, and other work plan components.  Assist Construction Division with requests for information, submittal reviews, change proposal requests etc.  Applicant must demonstrate good communication skills including software applications, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.

Mechanical Engineer (PE)

Location: Corporate Office

Position, at Corporate Headquarters, for licensed Mechanical Engineer with experience designing systems to include plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, etc.  Take lead role on Government and private sector construction projects.  Work with clients to establish the most functional, efficient and sustainable designs.  Conduct or participate in design development work sessions at project sites with client representatives, other in-house A&E disciplines and subcontractors.  Coordinate preparation of mechanical documents, including specifications, and other work plan components.  Assist Construction Division with requests for information, submittal reviews, change proposal requests etc.  Applicant must demonstrate good communication skills including software applications, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.

Mechanical Engineer 

Location: Corporate Office

Position, at Corporate Headquarters, for mechanical engineer with a minimum five years experience designing systems to include plumbing, HVAC, fire protection, etc.  Projects involve Government and private sector construction projects.  Support senior staff working with clients to establish the most functional, efficient and sustainable designs.  Participate in design development work with client representatives, other in-house A&E disciplines and subcontractors.  Participate in the preparation of mechanical documents; including specifications, and other work plan components.  Assist Construction Division with requests for information, submittal reviews, change proposal requests etc.  Applicant must demonstrate good communication skills including software applications, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.  AutoCAD/MicroStation experience desired.

Electrical Engineer (PE)

Location: Corporate Office

Position, at Corporate Headquarters, for licensed electrical engineer with experience designing systems to include lighting, power, communications, etc.  Take lead role on Government and private sector construction projects.  Work with clients to establish the most functional, efficient and sustainable designs.  Conduct or participate in design development work sessions at project sites with client representatives, other in-house A&E disciplines and subcontractors.  Coordinate preparation of electrical documents, including specifications, and other work plan components.  Assist Construction Division with requests for information, submittal reviews, change proposal requests etc.  Applicant must demonstrate good communication skills including software applications, such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.

AutoCAD / Draftsperson
  • Produce digital drawings for submittal of plans to facility using Auto CAD 14.

General Construction

Construction Division Manager (Corporate)

Location: Corporate Office

  • A) Field Supervision
  1. Responsible for hiring and training of project management including managers, superintendents, and quality control personnel.
  2. Responsible for working directly with owners and clients at the jobsite level concerning scheduling job progress, change orders and problem resolution.
  3. Responsible for reviewing schedules, progress and costs as related to budgets then taking appropriate actions with personnel to bring job in on time and within budget.
  4. Participates in limited field visits to verify job progress and quality.
  5. Works with Architects/Engineers and Clients on fast track, design build or value engineering work at the jobsite level.
  • B) Office Management
  1. Responsible for final estimates and pricing of job costs and proposals.
  2. Reviews plans and specs along with costing for work plan submittals.
  3. Performs limited structural engineering duties for duties for design build projects.
  4. Oversees periodic reviews of equipment and tool status and needs.
  5. Participates in site survey, work plan and final planning of all in-house construction activities.
  6. Responsible for correspondence to and from owners, Architects, Engineers, suppliers and subcontractors concerning day to day construction operations

Construction Operations Manager 

Location: Corporate Office

  • A) Field Supervision
  1. Performs necessary daily tasks to insure proper jobsite procedures are being followed.
  2. Visits jobsites as needed to review progress and solve problems.
  3. Works with owners, Architects and Engineers to review progress and resolve problems.
  4. Works with superintendents to review progress and resolve problems.
  5. Performs limited inspections of work in progress, makes punchlists and organizes corrective or preventative actions with field personnel as needed.
  6. Reviews time cards, classification of workers and manpower needs with field personnel.
  7. Ensures that material, equipment, tools and subcontractors are timely on site and perform as required.
  8. Supervises and oversees daily reporting, accident reporting and related needs.
  9. Assists superintendents in scheduling, manpower and all construction related jobsite requirements related thereto.
  • B) Office Duties
  1. Responsible for checking of invoices, payment applications and billings for payment.
  2. Prepare billings to clients.
  3. Check and oversee weekly payroll.
  4. Assist in employee performance evaluations.
  5. Write and issue subcontracts and purchase orders.
  6. Perform and oversee estimating of jobs, change orders and bids including take-offs, clarifications to designer and pricing.

Regional Project Manager
  • Oversee the overall daily operations of all work in the field, including joint venture team members and subcontractors.
  • Participating in and coordinating the Site Survey Team, insuring that the proper scope and existing conditions are indentified.
  • Acting as liaison between the Global team, facilities, MEDCOM technical assistance team and any subcontractors, coordinating all activities occurring at the jobsite.
  • Scheduling of all activities related to the project.
  • Overseeing the contract dollars, such as expenditures, billings, job-related costs, as well as CLIN item hours and materials.
  • Weekly status meetings with the facility representatives, keeping them informed of all activities, including schedules, progress and problems.
  • Overseeing all quality control and safety on the job site, including the preparation of all daily quality control reports and weekly safety meetings, and adherence to the Site Specific Quality Control and Safety Plans.
  • Documentation and distribution of documentation to all involved parties.
  • Coordination with the facility representatives on any warranty issues.

Project Managers

Job Objectives: 

The project manager has overall project responsibility for timely and profitable completion. The project manager is the prime link between the Government and other members of the project team. Perform construction and project management functions including planning, scheduling, coordinating subcontractor activities. Must understand risk identification and the knowledge to minimize risks.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • · Conduct safety and quality control audits for assigned projects;
  • · Coordinate resolution of design issues between subcontractors and responsible design consultant;
  • · Monitor project budgets and schedules
  • ·  Identify and document project risks; and
  • ·  Maintain/issue Weekly Risk Report and all required project documentation

Project Superintendents

Location: Various

The superintendent directs all day-to-day field operations. It is the superintendent’s duty to ensure the project time/cost/quality goals are fully executed in the field. The superintendent and field staff guide, expedite and coordinate the day-by-day progress of the work.


Project Engineers

The project engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating the various technical and administrative contract requirements of each subcontractor assigned by the project manager.


Marketing

Proposal Manager/Technical Writer

Location: Corporate Office

Job Objectives: 

The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer is responsible for leading teams for assigned proposals, and also for contributing substantially to proposal content as a technical writer.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer analyzes federal government RFPs, develops proposal outlines and schedules, works with engineers and construction personnel to prepare proposal content, performs editing and proofreading, prepares for and facilitates proposal reviews, as well as prepares for and facilitates proposal production.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer must be able to work extended hours as needed to meet proposal deadlines.

The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer participates in the development of win themes and proposal strategies.  He/she plans proposal schedules and assigns writers.  He/she plans and conducts kickoff meetings.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer interfaces with engineers, construction personnel, senior managers, and other proposal team members to obtain information on technologies and approaches for technical proposals.  He/she obtains writing assignments from the section authors by the assigned dates.   He/she edits technical information prepared by technical authors into clear, concise proposal text and illustration concepts. 

The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer performs proofreading and editing, and ensures editorial integrity for proposals.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer prepares proposal material in accordance with the format, limitations, and completeness specified by government proposal preparation instructions.  The Proposal Manager/Technical Writer plans and manages proposal production and delivery. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide assistance in the development of the past performance volume for all active proposals.
  • Establish a database to catalog past performance information from site locations/prior proposals.
  • Update past performance database through regular contact with site operations.
  • Manage all phases of the proposal process from inception to award for selected efforts.
  • Interpret the RFP to provide consistent guidance to proposal team members.
  • Determine the appearance and layout of the proposal.
  • Develop outlines and timelines for proposal efforts.
  • Assign writing tasks to subject matter experts.
  • Assign and follow-up on action items.
  • Ensure the development and distribution of templates and boilerplate for writers.
  • Edit for grammar, accuracy, organization, and spelling.
  • Write sections of the proposal as necessary
  • Organizes and maintains proposal/marketing data.
  • Attends proposal related meetings / presentations
  • Coordinates firm-sponsored marketing events and administers client reward program

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Strong written and oral communications skills and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple documents simultaneously
  • Prior experience performing in a role as a proposal manager and as a writer preparing technical
  •  proposals for the federal government.
  • Ability to quickly analyze government RFPs and prepare proposal outlines/compliance matrices.
  • Very strong skills with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).   Knowledge of
  • graphics programs, such as Visio and Adobe Illustrator, are a plus.
